Ze Roberto: We won 3-0 but the result does not reflect the difficulties we faced today

Sapporo, Japan, September 24, 2019 – Gabriela Guimaraes and Lorenne Geraldo scored 15 points each as Brazil downed Japan 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-23) at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Cup on Tuesday.

Brazil coach Jose Roberto Guimaraes: "It is always tough against Japan. We won 3-0 but the result does not reflect the difficulties we faced today. We had to pay attention in attack because Japan is very tenacious. The second and third sets were close.

Brazil captain Fabiana Claudino
: "Each time we play Japan it is difficult. They have great support. We are happy to win. We must rest for the next match. We kept our composure as they were tenacious on defence"

Japan coach Kumi Nakada: "We really wanted to win this match. The start was good but we could not execute in service and our opponents scored from the middle. In the third set Brazil had some service mistakes but we could not capitalise. It was disappointing."

Japan player Miya Sato: "There were times when we had the lead but we lost 3-0. We have to face that result and prepare for the next round. We need to play what we have done in practice."

Japan player Risa Shinnabe: "I did not come out badly, but we suffered blocking by the opposition. We still have three more matches in the tournament and must prepare for them."

Japan player Erika Araki
: "We have more losses and points we need to correct. During the competition we hope to get better. We must prepare for the upcoming matches."
