Ze Roberto: Dominican Republic's level gets better with every competition

 

Sapporo, Japan, September 23, 2019 – Gabriela Guimaraes scored a match high 21 points as Brazil battled past the Dominican Republic 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-19, 25-22) at the FIVB Women’s World Cup on Monday.

Brazil coach Jose Roberto Guimaraes
: "We are happy to win. We knew it would be a difficult match. The Dominican Republic has played well in the tournament. Their level gets better with every international competition they play in. Last night we had a five-set match which was tough. Tomorrow we will play Japan which has good defence."

Brazil captain Fabiana Claudino
: "We are happy to win. It was a tough match.We did make mistakes today. We will now prepare for tomorrow. We will recover and research."

Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek
: "No one is happy with a result like this. It was an intense game. I think my team is getting better, but we did make mistakes in crucial moments. Tomorrow we will play the United States which is an important North American rival. We will prepare for the match."

Dominican Republic captain Prisilla Rivera
: "It was a good game. At important moments we made mistakes and ended up with this result. We really wanted to win. I hope to play tomorrow. If I can’t, we have other members who can step in and play."
