Lang Ping: Our reception was better

Osaka, Japan, September 28, 2019 – China continued to roll in the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup at Maruzen Intec Arena Osaka, taking their 10th victory in convincing fashion following their 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-16) win over Serbia.

China coach Lang Ping: "I'm very happy we could win today's match. Compared to yesterday's match our reception was better, and everyone kept concentration a little better, as well. I'm very happy, yes, but we have one more match tomorrow, and we will do our best to end on a good note."

On how they'd face the full Serbia squad, as they will in the Olympics: "I think you're asking what would happen if Serbia brings their best members. It's a hypothetical question so I'm not sure how to answer that. It is not always certain that stronger teams beat weaker teams, and vice versa. The most important thing is that you give your best in the actual matches. You can not tell the result based on data. You never know until you actually play the match."

When China won in Rio you seemed quite pleased. However this time, rather calm. Any difference? "Firstly, because this competition hasn't ended yet, so i didn't feel like celebrating too much today. Secondly, we have won many games recently, so this is sort of getting normal so I'm sort of getting used to it."

China are already overwhelmingly strong. For Tokyo 2020, which areas do you want to improve? "There is a little time before the Olympics next year. So after this competition is over we return to China, and we can look at our performance identify our shortcomings here, and try to shore them through practice. In the next Olympics there will be strong teams that are not here in this competition, Italy for example is not here, and also a strong Serbia team as well."

China captain Zhu Ting: "For this match, I'm very pleased that we won. But we still have one final match tomorrow, and we hope to win that as well."

China player Zhang Changning: "I'm also very happy with this match today. And we will continue to work hard in tomorrow's match."

Serbia coach Aleksandar Vladisavliev: "I spoke with (Zoran) Terzic before on how I must control this Serbia first team. So I have instructions from my colleague, from my first coach, about how and which player has to play this tournament.

Serbia captain Ana Bjelica: "I want to say that I'm really proud of our team, these young girls. They showed lot of fight in this game. We played, as everybody knows, one of the strongest teams in the world. They came with a full team, so we just needed to give 100 per cent and not give up, and we did it. I'm very happy, and tomorrow is a very important game for us, against the Dominican Republic, so we have to prepare for this game.
