Iran's Ebadipour: "We needed to win this game"

 

Hiroshima, Japan, October 12, 2019 – Porya Yali and Milad Ebadipour combined for 35 points as Iran beat Argentina 3-2 (25-27, 25-23, 25-19, 17-25, 15-10) at the FIVB Men’s World Cup on Friday.


Iran coach Igor Kolakovic: "It was a tough game with a lot of emotion on both sides. We did not lose our concentration. We had a good service after the third set. Our service was crucial in this match. Their setter was precise and fast getting the ball to outside hitters, but our service decided the match."  

Iran captain Mir Saeid Marouflakrani: "It was a good fight by both sides. They have great quality in defense. We knew it would be tough against them. We were able to control the fourth and fifth sets with our serve."

Iran player Milad Ebadipour: "It was a tough game. They play an amazing game. I’m happy that we won. Argentina is one of the best teams in the world. This game was important for us. We needed to win this game. Were behind 2-1 and had an amazing comeback."

Argentina coach Marcelo Mendez: "It was a tough match. The first through fourth sets were played at a high level. Iran was great in attack and service in the fifth set. That is the key factor in this match. The setters for both teams played well."

Argentina captain Martin Ramos: "It was a good game at a high level for both teams. Iran was excellent in attack and that is why we have this result."
