Argentina coach happy to see young players gain experience

Hiroshima, Japan, October 13, 2019 – Martin Ramos scored 16 poiints as Argentina beat Russia 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 25-16) at the FIVB Men’s World Cup on Sunday.

Argentina coach Marcelo Mendez: "It is great that Russia retains a ranking as one of the top teams in the world. Both teams attacked well. It was difficult for us today. Both teams made mistakes. We were able to regain the momentum after losing the third set and win in the end. It is good that our young players are getting experience. Our service was good and that created the flow that allowed us to block well."

Argentina captain Martin Ramos: "It was a good game. We are happy to win. Our service and attack was very good."

Russia coach Tuomas Sammelvuo: "All teams that play faster and technically with a different tempo are trouble for us. We used to be a physical team. Their service was good and high block. It was one mistake for us here and there. We have huge motivation in this tournament. It plays a great role. We did not have enough today. Their good reception and service made it difficult for us to play."

Russia captain Sergey Grankin: "There is no excuse, we just lost. Argentina was better in block and service. That is why we lost."
